Glimepiride (Amaryl - Hoechst Marion Roussel), a new sulfonylurea similar to glyburide and glipizide (Medical Letter, 26:79, 1984), was recently marketed for treatment of patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) not controlled by diet and exercise.
