Yohimbine hydrochloride, a presynaptic 2 -adrenergic receptor antagonist available by prescription in the USA (Yocon, Yohimex, and others), is advertised for treatment of impotence and has been used as an aphrodisiac. A pre-1938 drug, yohimbine has never been approved for marketing by the US Food and Drug Administration.

As the weather becomes warmer, physicians may see more photosensitivity reactions due to systemic or topical drugs, perfumes, cosmetics or sunscreens. The FDA recently approved vandetanib [van det´ a nib] (Caprelsa – AstraZeneca) for oral treatment of symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) in patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic disease. Vandetanib is the first drug approved in the US for medullary thyroid cancer.
