The FDA has approved Arnuity Ellipta (GSK), a single-agent inhaler containing the corticosteroid fluticasone furoate, for once-daily maintenance treatment of asthma in patients ≥12 years old. Fluticasone furoate is also available in combination with the long-acting beta₂-agonist vilanterol as Breo Ellipta for treatment of asthma and COPD.

An oral formulation of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist semaglutide (Rybelsus – Novo Nordisk) has been approved by the FDA for once-daily treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults. Semaglutide, which has been available in a subcutaneously-injected formulation (Ozempic) since 2017, is the first GLP-1 receptor agonist to become available for oral administration; the 4 other GLP-1 receptor agonists currently available in the US are administered by subcutaneous (SC) injection.

Avandaryl, a new fixed-dose tablet combining the thiazolidinedione rosiglitazone (Avandia) and the sulfonylurea glimepiride (Amaryl, and others), was recently approved by the FDA for treatment of type 2 diabetes. Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse - Shire), a prodrug in which d-amphetamine is covalently bonded to L-lysine, has been approved by the FDA for treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children 6-12 years old. It was designed to have less potential than amphetamine itself for abuse, diversion or overdose toxicity. Like methylphenidate and amphetamines, lisdexamfetamine is a Schedule II controlled substance.

A combination product that contains fluticasone propionate and salmeterol (Advair) is already available for this indication in the US.
