monthly or every-other-month (EOM) intravitreal

use in patients with atrophic dry AMD. Subcutaneous
pegcetacoplan was approved earlier as Empaveli for
treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.

esophagitis, prurigo nodularis, and chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease with an eosinophilic phenotype.

IV amyloid beta-directed monoclonal antibody,
has received accelerated approval from the FDA

amyloid beta plaques in the brain. The manufacturer
is required to conduct an additional randomized
controlled trial to establish that reducing amyloid
beta plaques with aducanumab improves clinical

In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, the
sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor
empagliflozin (Jardiance – Boehringer Ingelheim/Lilly)
reduced the composite risk of cardiovascular death
or hospitalization for worsening heart failure (HF)
in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection
fraction (HFrEF), whether or not they had type 2
diabetes. To date, empagliflozin has not been
approved by the FDA for such use. The SGLT2 inhibitor
dapagliflozin (Farxiga) was approved by the FDA for
this indication earlier this year.

drugs to treat hypertension in adults whose blood
pressure is not adequately controlled on other drugs.
Three other dual endothelin receptor antagonists,

Concizumab (Alhemo – Novo Nordisk), a subcutaneously
injected tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI)
antagonist, has been approved by the FDA for routine
prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of
bleeding episodes in patients ≥12 years old who have
hemophilia A with factor VIII inhibitors or hemophilia B
with factor IX inhibitors. It is the second TFPI antagonist
to be approved in the US for treatment of hemophilia A
or B; the TFPI antagonist marstacimab (Hympavzi) is
approved for use in patients without inhibitors.
