The FDA has approved the subcutaneously
injected interleukin (IL)-4 receptor alpha antagonist
dupilumab (Dupixent – Sanofi/Regeneron)
for treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE)
in patients ≥12 years old who weigh ≥40 kg and
treatment of prurigo nodularis in adults. Dupilumab
is the first drug to be approved in the US for each
of these indications. It is also FDA-approved for
treatment of atopic dermatitis, asthma, and chronic
rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis.

Nemolizumab (Nemluvio – Galderma), a subcutaneously
injected interleukin-31 (IL-31) receptor
antagonist, has been approved by the FDA for use
in combination with topical corticosteroids and/or calcineurin inhibitors for treatment of moderate
to severe atopic dermatitis in patients ≥12 years
old whose disease is not adequately controlled with
topical prescription drugs. It is the first IL-31 receptor
antagonist to be approved in the US for this indication.
Nemolizumab was approved earlier for treatment of
prurigo nodularis in adults.

(Sprix – Lutipold) has been approved by the FDA for
short-term (up to 5 days) treatment of moderate to moderately
severe pain in adults. It is the first nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) to become available in
an intranasal formulation. Ketorolac tromethamine is
also available in oral, ophthalmic and injectable formulations.
