The FDA has approved Alyftrek (Vertex), an oral fixed-dose combination of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulators vanzacaftor, tezacaftor, and deutivacaftor, for once-daily treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) in patients ≥6 years old who have at least one F508del mutation or another responsive mutation in the CFTR gene. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is prevalent in 0.5% of adults in the US; it is about 2.5 times more common in women than in men. Guidelines for treatment of RA from the American College of Rheumatology were recently updated. The goal of treatment is to minimize disease activity and prevent irreversible joint damage.

About 60% of men ≥60 years old have clinically relevant prostatic enlargement due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The goals of treatment are to decrease lower urinary tract symptoms and to prevent disease progression and complications such as acute urinary retention. The American Urologic Association's guidelines for treatment of BPH were recently updated.
