Rosuvastatin (Crestor - AstraZeneca), an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (or "statin"), was recently approved by the FDA for lowering serum cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations and raising HDL cholesterol levels. Rosuvastatin, like other statins, inhibits the enzyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting step in cholesterol synthesis, but it is claimed to be more potent than the others. All of these drugs must be taken indefinitely; if they are discontinued, lipid levels return to baseline.

Two new injectable GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1)
receptor agonists, dulaglutide (Trulicity [trū li si tee] –
Lilly) and albiglutide (Tanzeum [tan' zee um] – GSK),
have been approved by the FDA for once-weekly
treatment of type 2 diabetes. Other available GLP-1
receptor agonists include exenatide, which is approved
for injection twice daily (Byetta) or once weekly
(Bydureon), and liraglutide (Victoza), which is injected
once daily.

Pfizer; marketed as Remsima in some countries), as a
biosimilar of the TNF inhibitor infliximab (Remicade).
Infliximab-dyyb was approved in the European Union
(EU) in 2013 and in Canada in 2014. It is the second
biosimilar to be approved by the FDA. Filgastrim-sndz
