cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor empagliflozin, the
dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor linagliptin, and
extended-release metformin, for oral treatment of type 2
diabetes in adults. Empagliflozin and linagliptin have been
available in a fixed-dose combination as Glyxambi since
2015, and both have been available in 2-drug combinations
with extended-release metformin for years (see Table 1).

is the first S1P receptor modulator to be approved for

in March 2020 for use in adults with relapsing forms of
multiple sclerosis.

product for cleansing of the colon prior to

this indication. A rectally-administered live fecal
microbiota-based suspension (Rebyota) was
approved in 2022 for the same indication. Neither
product is approved for acute treatment of CDI.

Onychomycosis is caused most commonly by
Trichophyton rubrum or T. mentagrophytes. About
10% of all persons worldwide and 40% of those ≥60
years old are believed to have the disease. Risk
factors include older age, diabetes, poor peripheral
circulation, smoking, HIV infection, psoriasis, and
immunosuppression. Left untreated, onychomycosis
can cause nail plate destruction, ingrown nails, and
(particularly in patients with diabetes) secondary
infections. Guidelines on treatment of onychomycosis
have been published.

drug (NSAID) meloxicam, for once-daily treatment

osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, has been
available for 20 years. IV formulations of ketorolac,
