The oral antimalarial tafenoquine succinate, a long-acting analog of primaquine, has been approved by the FDA in 2 different strengths. Arakoda (100-mg tablets; Sixty Degrees) is indicated for the prophylaxis of malaria in adults. Infertility occurs in about 15% of couples. About one third of infertility is due to problems with ovulation or an anatomic abnormality of the fallopian tube or peritoneum, such as scarring, adhesions or endometriosis. Another third is due to a male infertility factor, most commonly insufficient sperm production or abnormal motility or morphology. The remaining third is unexplained. In older women unexplained infertility is probably caused by diminished quality and quantity of oocytes, decreased implantation and spontaneous pregnancy wastage.

In overactive bladder, involuntary bladder contractions due to detrusor overactivity result in urinary urgency, frequency, nocturia, and incontinence. The prevalence of the disorder increases with age. Nonpharmacologic treatment, including bladder training, urge suppression, pelvic floor muscle exercises, constipation management, modification of fluid intake, and avoidance of dietary irritants such as alcohol and caffeine, should be tried first.

About 60% of men ≥60 years old have clinically relevant prostatic enlargement due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The goals of treatment are to decrease lower urinary tract symptoms and to prevent disease progression and complications such as acute urinary retention.
