treatment of Crohn's disease.

Regent) is now FDA-approved for IV treatment of iron
deficiency in adults with New York Heart Association
(NYHA) class II/III heart failure to improve exercise
capacity. Iron deficiency is present in approximately
30% of patients with heart failure; it has been
associated with reduced quality of life and increased
hospitalization and mortality. Injectafer is the first
IV iron preparation to be approved for this indication.
It was previously approved for treatment of iron
deficiency anemia in children and adults.

Golodirsen (Vyondys 53 — Sarepta), an antisense
oligonucleotide, has received accelerated approval
from the FDA for treatment of Duchenne muscular
dystrophy (DMD) in the ~8% of patients who have
mutations of the dystrophin gene that are amenable
to exon 53 skipping. It is the first drug to be approved
for this indication and the third to be approved for
treatment of DMD; the antisense oligonucleotide
eteplirsen (Exondys 51) and the oral corticosteroid
deflazacort (Emflaza) were approved earlier.

strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) cabotegravir,

HIV-1 infection in at-risk adolescents and adults.
Apretude is the first ER formulation to be FDA-approved
for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) of
HIV-1 infection.
